North Carolina Railroad Company Celebrates Partnership at Siemens Mobility’s State-of-the-Art Facility Groundbreaking in Lexington
LEXINGTON, N.C., August 24, 2023 — The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) was honored to partner with Siemens Mobility and attend the groundbreaking ceremony for their new east coast manufacturing facility for railroad rolling stock products in Lexington. This momentous occasion marked a significant milestone in the continued growth and development of the region’s
transportation infrastructure and manufacturing sector.
“Our new Lexington facility will continue to build the long and storied history of
rail in the state of North Carolina. It would not be possible without the support
and partnership of NCRR and their willingness to continue to expand the rail
network to the new facility,” said Michael Cahill, president of Rolling Stock North
America, Siemens Mobility, Inc.
Siemens Mobility, a global leader in intelligent, efficient and sustainable
transportation solutions, partnered with NCRR in choosing the new site location
in Lexington. Through NCRR’s economic development initiative NCRR Invests, NCRR invested approximately $1 million to assist with the costs of construction
and materials needed for Siemens Mobility’s new on-site rail infrastructure
operations. The facility will serve as a hub producing state-of-the-art rail vehicles
and mobility solutions that will enhance transportation networks across the state
and all of North America.
“The North Carolina Railroad Company is proud to be a part of this historic
partnership,” said Carl Warren, president & CEO of NCRR. “This partnership with
Siemens Mobility signifies both organizations’ commitment to innovation, sustainability and job creation within our great state. The new facility in Lexington will undoubtedly play a crucial role in advancing North Carolina’s transportation landscape.”
The groundbreaking ceremony featured the symbolic turning of the first shovels
of dirt, signifying the commencement of construction. Once completed, the
Siemens Mobility facility in Lexington will stand as a testament to North Carolina’s
dedication to fostering innovation, advancing transportation solutions, and
creating a brighter future for its residents
