WILLIAM H. KINCHELOE IS NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

February 1, 2006

Raleigh, NC--William H. Kincheloe, of Rocky Mount, NC, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Railroad Company effective January 31, 2006. Mr. Kincheloe succeeds J. Bradley Wilson, who has served as Chairman since 2002.

Mr. Kincheloe is President of Wildwood Lamps and Accents in Rocky Mount, N.C. Kincheloe has served as Chairman of the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rocky Mount YMCA, Chairman of the NC Ports Railway Commission, Director of the NC State Ports Authority Board, and as a member of the Rocky Mount Train Station Advisory Committee.

Scott M. Saylor, who has been President of NCRR since 2000, will continue in that role.

The NCRR expands the capacity of the state’s transportation system by helping shift freight to the railroad, serving new and growing industries across the state. Military fuel and equipment are transported over the railroad to serve military bases. Passengers also travel in the NCRR corridor, via Amtrak trains that use a part of the railroad for their routes.

The North Carolina Railroad Company owns and manages the 317-mile rail corridor from Morehead City to Charlotte that serves as the backbone of the state’s rail system. The railroad carries more than 60 freight trains and eight Amtrak passenger trains daily. The NCRR’s mission is to manage, improve and protect the State’s rail properties and corridors to enhance freight and passenger service and promote economic development.
